Living, not surviving
We are pleased to announce that we have been accredited as a living wage employer.
As a responsible, ethical organisation, we recognise that our success depends upon on an engaged and productive workforce that is well looked after.
A fundamental element to this is a fair rate of pay which is why we are committed to supporting a Living Wage so that all our workers can afford a basic standard of living. It is a proactive stance that cements our position as an ethical employer and reflects our core values.
Our Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at Carolina House Trust receive a minimum hourly wage of £8.45. This rate is significantly higher than the statutory minimum for under 25’s of £7.05 and over 25s of £7.50 per hour introduced in April 2017.
The real Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually. The Living Wage is calculated according to the real costs of living.
Carolina House Trust believe that the Living Wage gives employees the opportunity to provide for themselves and their families, hopefully taking them out of in-work poverty – the UK has one of the highest proportions of employees in low-paid work from advanced economies.

We enjoy being able to help the young people with life skills such as cooking, budgeting and encouraging them to seek further education or employment.

The supporting social workers at Carolina House Trust are so helpful and supportive when you need someone to listen to, either for advice or when you just need a moan.
