A Dundee-based fostering organisation has been officially hailed a ‘Great Place to Work’.
Carolina House Trust is one of Scotland’s oldest children’s charities, supporting foster carers and the children and young people in their care. The charity supports carers in offering family-based care to children and young people who cannot live with their own families.
Employing 12 staff, the charity, based at Luna Place, is now certified through Great Place To Work, the global authority on workplace culture, employee experience, and the leadership behaviours proven to deliver employee engagement, employee retention and increased innovation.
The prestigious award is based entirely on real-time feedback from current employees, including supervising social workers, support workers, and a support team that provides administration, finance, HR, training, and marketing.
As part of the feedback received, staff praised their employer’s commitment to wellbeing, community, Growth Mindset and development opportunities.
Specifically, staff described the Trust as ‘respectful’, ‘compassionate’ and ‘ethical’, and praised their employer’s dedication to ‘integrity’, ‘transparency’ and ‘vision’. Others singled out the Trust’s free Employee Assistance Programme, pilates classes, social committee and flexible working scheme.
Sara Lovelock, Chief Operating Officer, commented, “We are pleased to announce we have become Great Place To Work-Certified. The prestigious award is based on what staff have said about their experience working with Carolina House Trust and we have received a score of 100%.
“The recognition for providing an excellent workplace environment is welcome news for our whole community. The award highlights how, in our daily operations, staff are supported and motivated to provide the best possible support to our foster carers and influence positive outcomes for our young people.”
Sarah Lewis-Kulin, Vice President of Global Recognition at Great Place To Work, added, “Great Place To Work Certification is a highly coveted achievement that requires consistent and intentional dedication to the overall employee experience. By successfully earning this recognition, it is evident that Carolina House Trust stands out as one of the top organisations to work for, providing a great workplace environment for its employees.”
This latest recognition follows Carolina House Trust’s success in securing the ‘People Pioneer Business’ category of the Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce ‘Chamber Champion Awards’ in September.
