We have been awarded funding through the Scottish Government’s Changing Places Toilets Scotland Fund.
This funding will help our charity progress plans to install a Changing Places Toilet, providing fully accessible facilities for people with complex care needs and their families. Unlike standard accessible toilets, Changing Places Toilets provide additional space and the correct equipment needed to meet the personal care needs of people with complex disabilities and their carers.
We plan to locate their Changing Place at our Head Office in Dundee’s Technology Park. The Luna Place site will be accessible 24/7. The toilet will enable more people to enjoy community spaces and travel with dignity.
We were advised of the Scottish Government’s Changing Places Toilets Scotland Fund by our tenant organisation, PAMIS. PAMIS relocated its Head Office to the Luna Place building in 2023 after visiting the accessible ground-floor office suite. While their mobile Changing Place, the Pamiloo has been available for events, the addition of a permanent Changing Place offers a community space that is always fully accessible.
Carolina House Trust Chief Operating Officer, Sara Lovelock, welcomed the announcement by Scottish Government, “Carolina House Trust is a social care organisation with equality and diversity as a central value. We believe everyone in our community should have access to facilities that offer accessibility and dignity.”
“We are delighted our application to the Changing Places Toilets Scotland Fund was successful and we can now invest in making our facilities truly inclusive. This development will help us promote diversity within the CHT Community and the people we can provide services to, as well as provide an essential facility to the wider community. We hope this is the first of several initiatives where we will work in partnership with PAMIS for the benefit of even more children and families.”

About Changing Places Toilets
Access to toilet facilities is a fundamental human right. Changing Places Toilets (CPT) are larger accessible toilets, with specialist equipment. They are designed to meet the needs of disabled people who need carer support and equipment to use the facilities. CPTs ensure people have their personal care needs met, fulfilling this basic human right for them.
The Scottish Government are making a total investment of £10million into the Changing Places Toilets Fund between 2025-2027. A second application funding round opens in 2026-27.
