Fostering with Carolina House Trust

Fostering a child or young person is rewarding and life-changing for the families in our community. We want to help you reach a decision. You can:

How it works:

Assessment and matching

We will work with you, from initial enquiry to approval as a foster carer.
A Supervising Social Worker is allocated to complete the whole process with you, which can take around six months.
Key things you will learn about are fostering, safer caring and therapeutic parenting.
Our Approval Panel will review your assessment and make a recommendation to our Agency Decision Maker regarding your approval to be a foster carer.
Once approved we will match you with a child or young person.

Supervision, skills and training

Your assigned Supervising Social Worker will read your weekly carer logs, arrange regular supervision meetings and approve fees and allowances.
Based on your experiences your Supervising Social Worker will suggest learning and development opportunities for you.
Some training is required, for example Child and Adult Protection. Other training opportunities will be available to develop your knowledge including therapeutic parenting.
Your care and the support we offer is reviewed annually by the Approval Panel.
