Change a young person's life.
Foster with us.

A little about us

We are a community of foster carers, children and young people, staff and volunteers in Scotland. Our community cares for young people in family settings when they cannot live with their own families. We provide safe and nurturing homes to help them thrive and reach their potential.

Our charity has been supporting children and young people in Scotland for over 200 years. Originally an orphanage, today we provide family-based care offered by carers skilled in therapeutic parenting.

Fostering with us

Why foster?

Foster care is highly rewarding. There are challenges, but with help and support, you can positively change the life of a young person. Many more foster carers are needed across Scotland.

Foster carers are self-employed and receive a weekly fee and a young person’s allowance.

How fostering works

  1. We recruit, assess, and approve foster carers.

  2. We provide a high level of training and continuing professional development opportunities.

  3. We carefully match our carers to a young person to ensure the most appropriate fit.

FAQs

We have been answering questions about fostering for a very long time:

  • What age do I need to be? Over 21.
  • What kind of house do I need? Your home should have a spare bedroom for the young person.
  • Can I work while I am a foster carer? Yes. You could be a short breaks carer and remain in employment.
